1973 Hamilton Auto Date Dorchester

Serviced June 2019, day and date complication, Swiss made automatic movement, quick set date, hacks, near mint black dial with applied hour markers and painted minute track. Hand polished stainless steel case, stainless steel screw down case back, vintage stainless steel bracelet, NOS acrylic crystal, alloy mainspring.

Made from 1973 and 1974, the Hamilton Auto Date Dorchester comes with a Swiss made (AS) Hamilton caliber 631 automatic movement. Aside from the incredible aesthetics of this mid-70's era watch, the most intriguing feature of this watch is the movement that beats at 36,000 beats per hour. With a beat rate almost double that of most other vintage movements, the white second hand sweeps very smoothly across the dial. The watch features a near mint condition black dial with silvered applied hour markers and orange and white painted minute track. The day and date window is at 6 o'clock, adding to the outstanding 70's styling. The date is quick set by pushing the crown in to advance the date. The watch hacks when setting the time. The NOS domed acrylic crystal was installed during service June 2019. The stainless steel case and bezel has been hand polished and shows some scratching. The stainless steel case shows some fine scratching consistent with age but also still has the factory brushing. The bracelet is a vintage stainless steel link bracelet. The clasp is unsigned. The 631 caliber automatic day/date movement was serviced June 2019 and is running well and currently performing at +/- 11 seconds per day.

Case - Hand polished stainless steel case with some scratching. Stainless steel screw down case back has some scratching and still shows the factory brushing.

Lugs - Integrated lugs in excellent condition.

Crystal - NOS low domed acrylic crystal installed during June 2019 service.

Hands - Appear to be original. Extremely light patina.

Dial - Original, near mint condition dial. Black field, applied hour markers, painted minute markers and track. Paint on the dial is in mint condition.

Bracelet - Vintage Baldwin stainless steel bracelet with unsigned clasp. Currently sized for a 7.25 inch wrist, could be adjusted 7.75 inches, and down by removing links.

Movement - Swiss (AS) made Hamilton caliber 631, day/date, automatic, 17 jewels. Fully serviced June 2019. Runs strong and keeping excellent time.
