1973 Hamilton Auto Date Clermont

Serviced January 2019, day and date complication, Swiss made automatic movement, mint black dial with applied hour markers and painted minute track. Hand polished gold electroplated case, stainless steel screw down case back, original Hamilton bracelet, acrylic crystal, alloy mainspring.

Made from 1973 through 1976, the Hamilton Auto Date Clermont comes with a Swiss made (AS) Hamilton caliber 631 automatic movement. Aside from the incredible aesthetics of this mid-70's era watch, the most unique feature of this watch is the movement that beat at 36000 beats per hour. With a beat rate almost double that of most other vintage movements, the white second hand sweeps very smoothly across the dial. The watch features a mint condition black dial with gold applied hour markers and yellow and white painted minute track. The day and date window is at 6 o'clock, adding to the standout 70's styling. The day wheel appears to be a redial and is not the original font. The domed acrylic crystal was polished clean and clear of any major defects. The gold electroplated case and bezel has been hand polished and shows some scratching. The stainless steel case back has one scratch but also still has the factory brushing. The bracelet is original to the watch and came with the Auto Date Clermont in the 1973 and 1974 catalog. The clasp is signed. The 631 caliber automatic day/date movement was serviced January 2019 and is running well and currently performing at +/- 11 seconds per day.

Case - Hand polished gold electroplated case. Stainless steel screw down case back has some scratching and still shows the factory brushing. There is some dings and minor plate wear along some of the edges of the case.

Lugs - Minor plate wear on the reverse side of the lugs.

Crystal - Domed acrylic crystal polished clean and clear.

Hands - Appear to be original. Extremely light patina.

Dial - Original, mint condition dial. Black field, applied hour markers, painted minute markers and track. Paint on the dial is in mint condition. Day wheel appears to be a redial.

Bracelet - Original vintage Hamilton JB Champion bracelet. Stainless steel backs, 14k gold filled caps. The center links are stainless steel and originally were painted with black enamel. There is no longer any enamel. The signed clasp

Movement - Swiss (AS) made Hamilton caliber 631, day/date, automatic, 17 jewels. Fully serviced January 2019. Runs strong and keeping excellent time.
