1960 Hamilton Thin-o-Matic T-501

1960 Hamilton Thin-o-Matic T-501

Serviced November 2020, good dial with patina and spidering, hand polished stainless steel case and snap on case back, Swiss made micro rotor automatic movement, gently worn leather strap, acrylic crystal, alloy mainspring.

Hamilton began producing the Thin-o-Matic line of watches in 1959 using Swiss made micro rotor movements. These movements allowed Hamilton to produce high quality automatic watches as well as capitalize on the prevailing trend of thin watch cases. This Thin-o-Matic T-501 was one of the first models in the lineup and was made through 1961, with the black dialed version being introduced in 1960. The watch comes with a Swiss (Buren) made micro rotor automatic movement, caliber 666 with 17 jewels and a center sweep second hand. The black dial is in good condition and is showing spidering in the finish, especially near the center post. The painted Hamilton and automatic branding are in excellent condition, as is the pearled minute track. The hands appear to be original with patina. Some of the original lume on the hour hand is missing. The stainless steel case and snap on case back have been hand polished. The case and case back have some fine scratching, the inside edge of the 5 o'clock lug has some marring. The watch comes ready to wear on a lightly worn black genuine leather strap with a silver tone buckle. The 666 automatic movement was serviced November 2020 and is running well and currently performing at +/- 19 seconds per day.
