1953 Hamilton Rodney

Serviced March 2019, two tone quadrant dial, hand polished 10k gold filled case and bezel, vintage original expansion bracelet, acrylic crystal, alloy mainspring.

Made for 12 years from 1953 through 1964, the Rodney was a popular watch, especially as a presentation watch due to the larger size and smooth case back. Over the years, the Rodney came with different caliber movements and was available in several different dial options, including the two toned quadrant dial on this watch. This particular Rodney comes with a manual wind American made Hamilton caliber 748 movement with 18 jewels and a center sweep second hand. The serial number stamped on the movement is from 1953. The silver and white two tone dial is in excellent condition. The painted cross hairs and Hamilton logo are in excellent condition, as is the pearlized minute track. The hands appear to be original with little to no patina. The 10k gold filled case and bezel are hand polished with some scratching. The watch comes ready to wear on an original Duchess expansion bracelet with 10k gold filled caps and stainless steel backs. This is the band the Rodney came with in the 1962 and 1963 catalog. The 748 manual wind movement was serviced March 2019 and is running well and currently performing at +/- 23 seconds per day.

Case - Hand polished 10k gold filled bezel and case. There is no visible plate wear, but some scratching on the bezel and case back.

Lugs - Minor scratches on the dial side of the lugs, no plate wear on the tips.

Crystal - Polished domed acrylic crystal.

Hands - Appear to be original. Little to no visible patina.

Dial - Two tone silver and white dial with applied gold markers and pearlized minute track. Paint on the dial is in mint condition.

Bracelet - Duchess expansion bracelet, 10k gold filled tops and stainless steel backs. This appears to be an original bracelet offered by Hamilton in 1962 and 1963.

Movement - American made Hamilton caliber 748, manual wind, 18 jewels, center sweep seconds. Fully serviced March 2019. Runs strong and keeping excellent time.
