1953 Hamilton Haddon cld

Serviced April 2020, good silver with patina and 18k gold applied numbers, polished 10k gold filled case and bezel, American made manual wind movement, engraved case back, acrylic crystal, unworn leather strap, alloy mainspring.

Made for two years in 1953 and 1954, the Haddon is a part of Hamilton's second generation of CLD ("sealed") lineup of watches. The CLD line of watches came with a series of gaskets that were designed to keep moisture and dust out of the case and were marketed as "weatherproof". This line predates the "waterproof" watches that were introduced by Hamilton in the late 1950's. This particular Haddon features an American made 747 caliber manual mind movement with 17 jewels. The 10k gold filled case has been hand polished and has little to no plate wear. The case back in monogrammed. The silver dial has light patina and a blemish near the 10 o'clock. The pearlized minute track is excellent. The painted sub seconds track, Hamilton logo, and CLD branding are excellent. A NOS domed acrylic crystal was installed during service. The crown is slightly "wobbly" as the gasket that is normally in place has long ago disintegrated. The crown is still secure and winds and sets the watch as normal. There is some light marring on the crown. Note: This watch is NOT waterproof, or even water resistant. The 747 manual wind movement was serviced April 2020 and is running well and currently performing at +/- 32 seconds per day.

Case - Hand polished 10k gold filled bezel and case. There is no visible plate wear, but some light scratching consistent with age. The case back is engraved with:

Lugs - No visible wear on the lugs, including on the tips. The lugs holes are drilled, making strap changes a breeze.

Crystal - NOS domed acrylic crystal installed during service April 2020.

Hands - Appear to be original. Light patina.

Dial - Original silver dial with 18k applied gold numerals and light patina. Paint on the dial is in excellent condition. Blemish near the 10 o'clock

Band - Brand new, unworn brown croc print leather strap with gold tone buckle.

Movement - American made Hamilton caliber 747, manual wind, 17 jewels. Fully serviced April 2020. Runs strong and keeping excellent time.
