1949 Hamilton Raymon

Serviced November 2020, American made manual wind movement, good silver dial with rhodium plated 18k gold applied numerals, polished stainless steel case and snap on case back, unworn black leather strap, NOS mineral glass crystal, alloy mainspring, drilled lug holes.

Introduced in 1949 and produced through 1951, the Hamilton Raymon is an interesting watch as it has a stainless steel bezel and case back. Hamilton first used stainless steel for a wrist watch in 1941 with a single model. Steel wasn't a popular case material until the mid to late 1950's when it began to be used more regularly. The Raymon comes with an American Hamilton caliber 747 manual wind movement. The serial number Y156965 is from 1949, so this is one of the first examples manufactured. The silver dial on this example is in good condition with honest patina across the dial. The applied numerals are 18k solid gold and have been rhodium plated to match the color of the case. The hands are also rhodium plated and appear to be original. The painted Hamilton logo and sub seconds track are excellent. The painted minute track has faded at the 1:30 position. A NOS mineral glass crystal was installed during the November 2020 service. Lug holes are drilled. The watch is ready to wear on an unworn black genuine leather strap with silver toned buckle and contrasting stitching. The Swiss made 688 manual wind movement was serviced November 2020 and is running well and currently performing at +/- 6 seconds per day.

Case - Hand polished stainless steel case and case back. Some minor scratching.

Lugs - In great condition. Drilled lug holes

Crystal - NOS mineral glass crystal installed during service.

Hands - Rhodium plated, appear be original.

Dial - Patinaed original silver dial with rhodium plated solid 18k gold applied numerals. Paint on the dial is in excellent condition with the exception of some fading of the minute track at 1:30.

Band - Unworn, black leather strap with silver toned clasp and contrasting stitching.

Movement - American made Hamilton manual caliber 747, 17 jewels. Fully serviced November 2020. Runs strong and keeping excellent time.
