1948 Hamilton Nordon

Serviced November 2018, good silver dial with light patina and 18k gold applied numbers, polished 10k gold filled case and bezel, vintage 10k gold filled Speidel expansion bracelet, alloy mainspring.

Made for five years from 1948 through 1952, the Nordon is a part of Hamilton's CLD ("sealed") lineup of watches. The CLD line of watches came with a series of gaskets that were designed to keep moisture and dust out of the case and were marketed as "weatherproof". This line predates the "waterproof" watches that were introduced by Hamilton in the late 1950's. This particular Nordon features an American made 748 caliber manual mind movement with 18 jewels. The silver dial has light patina and no dings or dents. The painted minute track, Hamilton logo, and CLD branding are excellent. The larger crown makes it easier to wind since the fit is rather snug due to the "sealed" design. Note: This watch is NOT waterproof, or even water resistant. The 748 manual wind movement was serviced November 2018 and is running well and currently performing at +/- 22 seconds per day.

Case - Hand polished 10k gold filled bezel and case. There is no visible plate wear, but some scratching on the back where somebody attempted to open the case.

Lugs - No visible wear on the lugs, including on the tips. The lugs holes are drilled, making strap changes a breeze.

Crystal - Acrylic crystal polished clean and clear.

Hands - Do not appear to be original. Light patina.

Dial - Original silver dial with 18k applied gold numerals and light patina across the dial. Paint on the dial is in excellent condition.

Bracelet - Vintage Speidel expansion bracelet. 10k gold filled caps, stainless steel backs, in fair shape with some plate wear and ready to wear.

Movement - American made Hamilton caliber 748, manual wind, 18 jewels. Fully serviced November 2018. Runs strong and keeping excellent time.
