1942 Hamilton Ross (Rose Gold)

Serviced December 2021, hand polished 14k rose gold filled case, coral dial, applied rhodium plated 18k gold numerals, very little patina, rose gold capped expansion bracelet, NOS acrylic crystal, alloy mainspring.

Hamilton produced the Ross from 1939 through 1946. The early models used Hamilton's 980 caliber movement. In 1942, the Ross was offered with additional dials and case materials, one of which was rose gold case and coral dial with a 982 movement. There were also two dial variations for this case, this particular watch being an example of the rhodium plated 18k solid gold applied numerals. The case and bezel on this example are 14k rose gold filled and have been hand polished. The dial is in very good condition with light patina visible. The Hamilton logo and sub seconds paint is excellent. The original hands are also rhodium plated. This Hamilton Ross comes ready to wear on a rose gold capped expansion bracelet. The serial number on the movement (J146164) indicates it was finished in 1942. The 982 small seconds movement was serviced December 2021 and is running well and currently performing at +/- 21 seconds per day.

Case - Hand polished 14k rose gold filled bezel and case back. Some fine scratching on the front of the bezel.

Lugs - No noticeable plate wear. Drilled lugs to make strap changing a snap.

Crystal - NOS acrylic crystal installed as part of the full servicing December 2021.

Hands - Original rhodium plated hour, minute, and seconds hands with light patina.

Dial - Coral dial with rhodium plated numerals and hands. Light patina across the dial. Sunken small seconds dial at the 6 o'clock. All the original paint in excellent condition.

Bracelet - Stainless steel, rose gold capped expansion bracelet.

Movement - Hamilton American made 982 caliber, 14/0 size, manual wind, 19 jewels. Runs strong and keeping excellent time.
