1940 Hamilton Ross (WGF)

Serviced December 2018, polished 14k white gold filled case, two-tone silver and coral dial with gilt numerals, light patina, unworn leather strap, NOS mineral glass crystal, new alloy mainspring, monogrammed case back.

Hamilton produced the Ross from 1939 through 1946. The early models used Hamilton's 980 caliber movement. In 1940, the Ross was offered two special models, one of them featuring a white gold case and silver/coral dial with a 982 movement. The case and bezel on this example are 14k white gold filled and have been hand polished. The case back is monogrammed. The dial has some light, even patina and the paint is in excellent condition. The three hands are blue. This Hamilton Ross comes ready to wear on a new, never worn, black leather band with silver tone buckle and contrasting stitching. The 982 small seconds movement was serviced October 2018 and is running well and currently performing at +/- 32 seconds per day.

Case - Hand polished 14k white gold filled bezel and case back. Some minor scratches on the front of the bezel. The case back is monogrammed "Fred H. Sweeney Oct. 18 1941". White gold crown.

Lugs - No noticeable plate wear. Drilled lugs to make strap changing a snap.

Crystal - NOS mineral glass crystal installed as part of the full servicing December 2018.

Hands - Original blue hour and minute hands with very light patina. NOS blue sub seconds hand installed during service.

Dial - Two tone with silver field and coral hour track, gilt roman numerals. Clean dial with light even patina. Sunken small seconds dial at the 6 o'clock. All the original paint in excellent condition

Band - Unworn, black leather strap with silver toned clasp and contrasting stitching. Spring bars are quick change, making swapping out bands even easier.

Movement - Hamilton American made 982 caliber, 14/0 size, manual wind, 19 jewels. New white alloy mainspring installed during December 2018 full servicing. Runs strong and keeping excellent time.
